JDC is the official support company
for NexSys in the North American Continent.
Take back control of your network delivery infrastructure
Today's network and web enabled
companies, whether traditional, moving to the web, or already on
the web, wireless companies moving from WAP to GPRS and UMTS or
wireline companies becoming web hosting sites, ISP and ASP's, the
combined network and server management issues have become formidable.
DYSER SRL analyzed
the growing management issues and chose to create a new management
paradigm based on Sun Microsystems hardware, OS and Solstice Enterprise Manager (SEM) platform.
The DYSER SRL design
goal for NexSys was a flexible Java 2 based set of applications
that would supply technical innovations in the use of Java 2 and
SEM, whilst addressing the business needs of end user customers
and systems integrators.
The initial design
requirements called for a login screen, manageable object viewer,
object details, alarm viewer, alarm log browser, user definable
network viewer configuration and the ability to add new java applications
into NexSys 2.0 JMC without DYSER SRL involvement.
Another of the primary
goals of the NexSys 2.0 JMC design was to support national language
capabilities this has being accomplished and the goals extended
to include the graphics and tool tips that appear on the Java screens.
This is accomplished
via a text based configuration file that can be modified by the
end user or systems integrator.
DYSER SRL also chose
SEM as the base platform because of it's ability to support both
small networks and server farms but also grow to support a large
enterprise or telecommunications company.
Foundation for NexSys
The DYSER SRL - NexSys 2.0
JMC Java based applications for SEM address some of the major concerns
found in today's business environment off web tone delivery of products
and services.
Financial Loss
Each time a customer
or user cannot gain access to a service, companies have a potential
to have that user place an order on a different site or move to
a different service provider.
Complexity
As the services being
delivered become deployed on third party applications from different
vendors, the number of points to be monitored within the service
framework increases the work load on operations staff.
High Growth
Companies historically
have deployed small pilot systems to "test the water", successful
pilots can grow from a few network elements and servers to large
scale deployments with hundreds of elements in a short period of
time, increasing the number of operators required to manage the
network.
Heart Beat Systems
"Heart beat systems"
generate the revenue for a company, any downtime or service interruption
can be counted as lost revenue, customer retention or SLA penalties.
Service Level Agreements
As services become
critical to both internal and external users, the ability to monitor
the "end-to-end" health of a service allows for the delivery of
quality within the scope of negotiated Service Level Agreements
(SLA).
Mixed Management Environment
Deployments of services
often requires the use of technologies from different vendors, each
vendor will provide a management capability that may not conform
to a standard making integration for "end-to-end" management difficult,
costly and time consuming.
Multiple Management
Standards Delivered by Suppliers
More and more companies
are asking for a single view of the network, servers, applications
and databases that make up a service, regardless of the management
standards supplied with the solution.
NexSys 2.0 JMC in conjunction
with SEM can provide timely information about the network, servers,
OS, applications and databases, assuring that the services are available
for use.
How can NexSys 2.0 JMC achieve these goals?
The DYSER SRL-NexSys 2.0 JMC Java applications for SEM
product is developed using the Sun Microsystems Forte for Java tools,
the Iplanet Web server allows access to the SEM Java gateway.
The NexSys product gets advantages from SEM in the following
areas:
- security
- distribution
- TMN compliance
- applications or database interface layer
- isolation from the network, server, OS
plus the SEM nerve center for automated operations.
NexSys 2.0 JMC is designed to allow for the viewing
of the "End-to-End" service layers within a corporation. It's major
function is to display information about hard alarms received from
the applications domain, it can also display soft alarms raised
via nerve center requests polling into the environment looking for
potential problems.
